Venus Rising

1993

The soft slow amber waves of dawn lifts the fog

A ghostly past unbound upon the shore

Her soul drifts softly to and fro

Fading light has shadows posing

Ancient goddess of the ocean

Wind unfurls in deepest violet

Beyond a hind is heard

Pain of deepest silence a chord without a word

Wait though petulant knave, t’was you

who knelt at sacred waves

Empowered within your guilt of craven act

Sacred graves you corrupted, a statue robbed

Over stormy waters pale lips twist

Eyes of fires and venom betray

Slowly sunken, his spirit slips away

Goddess rising, set free from her crystal prison

The thief wanders sightless broken away

First breath sheds wings and fins

She wakes and walks from ocean foam

Moonbeam skin touches earth once again

The world rumbles and tilts to begin

Werewolf

Loneliness rides you like a cloak

As the night wind and moonlight tighten the yoke

Beast is called forth upon this time

to walk the earth with a killers mind

The smile summons claws and canines forth

the scent that trails in the wind

calling to you and curling within

Willingly pursuing the hunt soon begins

like mercury you fade silver to black

Heightens the sounds, the hearts of men

weak in rhythm or a quickening within

wilderness enfolds or city streets called home

the darkness that  holds you

won’t give you back

no bounty, no cage, no hollow rage

a reprieve from this hollowness you seek

searching the dark and finding no light

one solid weightless moment to make life right

what will you follow,

what will you keep

as pains fearsome vengeance

you reap

These are poems by me written throughout my life.

.Prayer to a Goddess
August 18, 2011
Enchanted whispers spun from gold

Secrets hidden now unfold
Timeless images carved in stone
Ancient rites to me are shown
What once was hidden in the shadows
Now shows itself in sunny meadows
Prayers and spells escape my lips
And the full moon thanks me with a gentle kiss
I've found a treasure in nature & love
Sent down to me from the goddess above
Filling with knowledge and ancient power,
I continue to grow like a budding flower

Starry skies and gypsy eyes
Incense haze and candle light
Magical visions of temples high
take us on a journey tonight
Whisper a prayer to the moonlit night
Nyx will hear our heartfelt plight
Visions of wonder pervade my minds pages
As she guides us through some mythical ages
Castles and temples and people of yore
Where wiccans and pagans have wandered before
Monoliths of stone and historical trees
Where once before the pagans danced free
And as my journey soon comes to an end
Nyx my goddess, great blessings I send
By incense haze and candle light
I say my prayers and thank the night

Death of the Hunt

October 11, 1994

I uphold my defenses when it comes to your intentions

I won’t give them up even for the key you mentioned

to what you have locked away, your heart

my hunter, You may chase me down

 wound me with your charm

leave me with your mark teach my heart how you can kill me and take me

and try to be blameless while I remain nameless in my armor

Just remember the hunt and  who’s the prey, The one who won’t make it out of this in the same way.

Fallen and broken, the silent blows are worse, words of love lay on your lips like a curse

seeking  solace I seek any path and then I hide

would you save me, leave me, hate me

Your   ghostly arms around me,

 leave mine haunted

Never getting everything I ever wanted.

It’s all and then… it’s nothing to me,   armor or a crown, Running up the hill behind you only to drown

Magnificent Illusions waiting here of the one who broke you ,

Is my head filled with your lies and your persuasions

What I wouldn’t give to just forget

So I can know how to live the longest days ahead

Heart beat roaring back from the dead

sounding like a dance of rain and lead

When will I learn to ignore my soul

become my own Artemis and carry my own bow

Were you ever really here at all

or was I just falling for the shadows dancing along my wall

Running again, always one of us the fool

I don’t know if you are hiding it all inside you Under the same deep sky the same burning within

No magic words to erase the sands that so much time has left  behind

Like a stranger never accepting the thorns where I bloom, the horns you wear spell my doom

Lips left lonely but still able to say my name

As our lives are cast upon fate’s loom

Beat my love down with carelessness

Make my dreams a living vipers nest

I’ll live with what I’ll miss and build up stronger walls and rest

Swallow venom til I build a tolerance

Hang my mirror back in the hall and dance

Til the next hunter’s moon

Rising full over the horizon line

The wolves call like a warning sign

Crouching low in cobwebs of lace I wait

I watch you run to me at last with all that need behind a cold mask

Chasing something you’ve never been able to replace

Let the hunt take place and the death toll climb.

What is one more heart shoved into hell

Another lost wish in the well.

.A Silver Dream To Her Grave
June 01, 2012

A Silver Night's Dream

Slowly, silently under the generous moon
a troubled lady travels within her silvery gloom;
Walking along this quiet path, whispers and rustles in the grass
the lonely loon croons pruning the silence in the night with it's cries.
She stares at a clearing, where up ahead it lies
She pauses, savoring the sweet silver fruit from the dark silver trees.
As she nears the valley, full of thistle and violets and moss
rumored as a place of magic and healing for the lost,
her dreams disappearing lost in a dreamy blaze
lit with a sorrow filled silvery match from her doomed heart’s phase.
An owl swoops through the scene and darkened clouds grab  hold swallowing the moon.
She tries to scream aloud her agony, but makes no sound at all.
The darkness waits with nothing to say.
His silver claws and ebony eyes; on steady silent paws of white
stands the night's silver wolf;
Letting out a single hollow sound to let the night know he's made his rounds.
His glittering reflection in the water gleams, by silver reeds in a silver stream.
Mists rising all around, hiding mountains from the lowest town.
In this dream like hallowed ground where creatures of the night are found;
here the lady makes her way.
Suddenly she stops and kneels to pray beside a cold silvery stone
to await the firelight of day

the brightness casts her soul away.

Masquarade Love
Feburary 8, 1996

Twilight falls

A Masquerade Ball

 Music enthralls

Everyone dressed up like dolls

Moonlight spills through drapes

Gardenia and roses thicken air

I have known, do I dare

I search the crowd behind my mask

Liquid fire sparkles

Crystal desire enfolds

Laughter, and another dance, spinning

I pass right by barely catching your eye

Save me from this lie

Take this dance with me your reply
it is not a request
I give you my hand
Music unfurls
One two three ... Turn
Candle light moves thru shadows
Your hand pulls me in tight
Demanding

One, two, three…Turn
Commanding whispers

swallowing my plea
Beg to flea
One two three...turn
Stay and burn
Knowing I cannot keep you long
Reflections in windows disappear
It is only now you and I alone here

the song, swings up the stairs
Your leg brushes mine

One, two, three…Turn

satin and lace your strength a fine line
One two three ... Turn
Your smile still so stern
Searching, leading, feel me retreating
My heart skip, but loses no time
Soul wrenching secrets are mine
One two three... Turn
My hand bound in yours
The waltz is no lark
For it holds a dangerous spark
One two three ...turn
The song picks up
My lips part

One, Two, Three…Turn
With a sigh and a look
I can feel me beneath you
One two three...turn
This waltz goes dark
One two three ...Turn.

All pretense spun away

Tortured hearts set astray

Turn….Turn and run away.

Constantine

He is born of fire and forged by pain

Taken  prisoner within the Devil's breath

Left half slain, he begged for death

Fate himself could not restrain

Strength and need, loss after loss received

Lashes and blows that fall like rain

Those that dealt them watch him bleed

One thought, he holds like a grain

He has trained to hold and un-blind the night

The single soldier between wrong and right

Death dealers and chains, fallen comrade souls remain

Flashing steel flies, a thunderous clash

He appears there like the phoenix from ash

A vengeful ghost of the past

A warrior soul behind a mask

With one titan solitary task

To hold back a legion, an army in black

Demons  from hell lead this attack

No angels can have his back, alone

He carves a life from stone

And rages onward

For one he will bleed and atone

For all he will leave a home

Like the gladiator of Rome

Weary, tired and cold to the bone

no parades or throne

He returns  to us

Victorious

Dream Sand

1992

The Vultures Swoop through a barren sky

Desert sand sting my skin, pins of glass

Scorpions creep, snakes entangle my feet.

The oceans flooded long ago

Crabs bit my toes and salt dried my eyes.

Places along the shore, cliffs, boulders staggered like statues of bravery

Heroes that have never saved me

I soar past it all beyond where vultures turn

Beyond a predators embrace

Into twilight speckled black

A great face stares hard into my heart

Strong wings surround me in the blinding sun glow

The hour glass shatters.
